First week of summer vacation!

Last weekend was spent planting our garden...can't wait to go out and pick beans, cucumbers, zuccinni, and tomatoes every night for dinner. The kids are very interested in helping, too, which will hopefully get Nate a bit more interested in fruits and vegetables. We planted about 15 different things, so hopefully there will be something out there that he'll eat! I won't give up on trying to get that kid to like veggies :) I had to take this picture of Matt as a memory from the first garden at the new house. It was actually Gabe's idea to take the picture. He said, "Lets take a picture of that farmer in our back yard...oh wait...is that Daddy?" He must have looked a little odd to Gabe in a cowboy hat. We're not used to seeing that. Then, after I explained that it was Daddy, he said, "Makes sense...all farmers wear cowboy hats!"

Monday and Tuesday were regular school days for Nate, so the younger kids and I just hung out around the house. We watched Uncle Rodney cut and rake our hay, played in the water and I admired Gabe as he took on the task (on his own) of wanting to learn to ride his bike with no training wheels. I told him that if he whined even one time, I was putting them back on. I warned him that he would probably fall and it may hurt, but after a few days, he'd have the hang of it. Little booger proved me wrong...I took the training wheels off and he immediately took off and never fell!

On Wednesday, the kids and I all had dental cleanings scheduled and Matt was able to take the morning off work to help keep the troops in line at the dentist office. Things went well, other than finding out that Gabe has 4 cavities and may have nerve damage in one tooth! Yuck! When the dentist told me that, I felt like pinning a "Mother of the Year" award on my shirt. Immediately I began counting the number of times that I should have reminded him to brush his teeth. She assured me it was because he has 'deep grooves.' I think that was just to make me feel better :) Four fillings scheduled for late June :(
Nate, on the other hand got an A+ on his oral hygiene score card and Adri sat through an ENTIRE cleaning and exam...we were just hoping she'd sit still for a ride in the chair!

After the dentist, I had to go to Target to pick up a shower gift and there is a McDonald's nearby. We played for about an hour before Adri exploded in her diaper! I told the people who worked in the play area that nothing appeared to get out of her shorts, but she was sliding on the slide and it may be a good idea to wipe it down. No one came, so I did it with some baby wipes...good thing I had a change of clothes...even if they were jeans and a long sleeved shirt (hadn't changed the back-up outfit in the diaper bag since it got warm). After running into to Target for just a few things, Adri and the boys started to show the effects of getting up early and being on the go until 2 p.m. I hurried out of the store and thought I had unloaded the entire contents of my cart into the van...WRONG! I left a $30 pack of diapers, a sack, and two gallons of milk under the cart! I called when I realized what I had done and the store manager informed me that only the diapers had been returned. So, I got to go back to Target the next day and reclaim my Huggies!

It was June Jamboree week in Pendleton!

We saw our friends Eric and Rebekah at the fair and Gabe asked if his 'special friend' would ride the dragon roller coaster with him. Nate wasn't aware of Gabe's request and before Eric could sit down, Nate hopped into the seat with Gabe. Gabe panicked! Luckily, the coaster operator unlocked the bar and let Nate switch seats and he sat with his little friend from school instead. Everyone was happy!

Adri rode the same roller coaster with Daddy and had her arms up the entire time! How brave!

Thursday was our first official summer field trip...Middletown park and splash pad. It was a beautiful morning to play at the park and have a picnic lunch. Just as we were finishing our lunch, it started to rain, so we headed home and watched Narnia on the couch under the covers. Just as Adri was waking up from her nap, the sun came out again and we ended our afternoon with another outting...the pool! I think it's best to go the pool after 2 p.m...no one is there!

This park is the "most awesome" according to the boys because it has a merry go round!

Friday morning we spent at home taking some pictures and working on Daddy's father's Day gift. After Adri had her nap, we ventured out to Recreation Unlimited in Noblesville. It's a store where they sells swing sets ($1000 - $20,000...yes I saw one that was almost $20,000). Since they have all of these neat swing sets set up in their showroom, they allow kids to come in and 'pay to play.' We'll certainly be going back there again soon!

I took about 50 pictures that morning and this is the only one that I got with all 3 kids looking my direction...and not even all of them are smiling!

Happy Birthday Adrianna! Today we spent the morning baking and decorating Adrianna's birthday cake...and of course, continuing the tradition of letting the kids chose their favorite breakfast on the morning of their birthday. Adri chose "haffles."

I couldn't figure out what kind of a cake to do for her, so Nate made it pretty simple. "What does she like?" he asked. The only thing I could think of was baby dolls and her tutus. So, we made a cake with a baby doll in a tutu!

Singing!

Presents...dress up stuff.

A crying, bottle drinking, and talking baby doll with stroller and pack 'n play!

Some new barbies and an awesome picnic table for the back porch (so our messy crafts can be done outside)!

More dress up stuff!

Only this girl could pull off wearing two tutus at once!

Playing with her new tea set with Papaw wouldn't be as memorable if Papaw didn't also wear a crown!

I wish this really worked!

Happy birthday sweet little Adri! You make me smile everyday and I'm so thankful for what you bring to our family. Nate reminded me today that Adri wouldn't be here if he hadn't prayed for her. We reminisced about the night we were praying for our friend Erin, who had just found out that she was expecting. We asked God to protect her little baby as it grew in her tummy. Nate finished the prayer with, "And please give us a new baby, too...a baby girl, please." He never doubted for one second that his prayer would be answered. I hope that faith
never fades :)
