I never thought I'd be so excited for Christmas break! I feel like a kid again! We spent some time last week working on our calendar for the next two weeks (the boys were in charge of picking out how they wanted to spend their time), and we're off and running. On the agenda for this weekend was visiting the lights in Indy, making gingerbread houses, and beginning to work on a 3D puzzle that we've had for at least a year and haven't even opened!
Nate informed me this morning that the best part of break isn't that he doesn't have school, but that he gets to spend his entire day hanging out with his favorite Mommy! That boy...knows how to melt my heart. I'm waiting for him to ask for something big. He's been teaching Adrianna to say "HO HO HO," when he asks her, "What does Santa say?" He's so proud of it. I'll try to get a video of that later.
On Friday, we loaded up the car with the kids, the dog, and a few bags of popcorn (with some M & M's sprinkled over the top) and headed to Indy to check out the Christmas lights. I think Matt and I may have even had some uninterrupted conversation on the way there!
The boys said these were their favorite lights. I asked Gabe why it was his favorite and he said because it looked like the big brother was about to throw his balls at his little brother! I wish, for just one second, I could get inside his head and figure out how it works!
Let the gingerbread houses take form!
Nate said he was going to make his to look just like our new house...except without the chimney "because the guys took all their mud with them and it wouldn't be good to eat, anyway!"

Is there anyone out there that can come up with a recipe for icing that will hold together gingerbread houses as good as super glue? If you come up with it, I'm sure you'll make millions!

Notice that Nate is sucking the icing right out of his bag!
Saturday morning was Gabe's last basketball game. He got a trophy for participation and a special trophy for "Most Improved!" He has been showing everyone his, "very first trophy dat I got for basketball!"

We worked on this puzzle for about 2 hours this morning and this is all we got done. I begged them to take a break so that I could have a stretch, but they declined until I bribed them a picnic on the floor for lunch! Now...back to work! I have a feeling we'll make more progress now that Adri is taking a nap!
Enjoy your week!
