Adri's surgery

We just found out yesterday that Adrianna has a minor hearing loss in both ears, probably because there has been fluid sitting near her eardrum since she was about 6 months old. The ENT thinks it's time to put in tubes. When they are draining properly, her hearing should be restored. I'm actually a little relieved because I'm ready for this to be over. It's not fun going to the pediatrician every few weeks because Adri has an unexplainable fever and ear pain. I can't count how many times I've filled a prescription for antibiotics.

Since we've decided to have the ear procedure, the ENT suggested that we go to a pediatric ophthalmologist. For those of you who see Adrianna on a regular basis, you know that she has had chronic drainage from her eye. It's getting worse as she gets older, instead of better, so while under anesthesia for her ears, the eye doctor will also be putting a stint in her tear duct in an effort to unclog and stretch out the area. The stint will stay in about 6 months.

Although it's never easy to watch your child go into surgery, we're both a little relieved to be taking care of this. The whole thing should only take about 45 minutes and we'll only have to stay in recovery for a few hours. She will have to have a tube down her throat during surgery, so that will be, we're told, the hardest part for her. She'll wake up with a sore throat and probably be cranky. We've been through this a time or two with the other kids (2 times with Nate and 3 times with Gabe), so we know to expect a cranky little one afterwards.

Please pray for the doctors putting their hands on Adrianna. Also, we're hoping that Adri recovers quickly and can get back to her 'new' healthy self!

I should know sometime today when they'll be doing the surgeries. It will be next Wednesday or Thursday morning.

Have a great weekend!!!
