After we had Nate, Matt and I were very intentional about spending lots of quality alone time together, but with each child, our alone time has gotten to be just about non-existant! Our plan was to take a big trip last August, to celebrate our 10th anniversary, but we got a nice surprise and our Little Lady joined the family in June. We didn't want to leave 3 kids (5, 2, and an infant) with my mom and dad. Heck, I'm not sure they would have been willing to keep them all for a week!
As our 11th anniversary approached we began throwing ideas around about what we'd do to celebrate. We decided to plan something that would give us a chance to reconnect but not be too over the top because we're about to start construction on the house.
We decided on St. Joseph, Michigan. We spent 4 amazing days sleeping in, watching movies, taking walks in the city and on the beach, visiting fruit stands, touring wineries, eating at small town restaurants and having lots of UNINTERRUPTED CONVERSATION! I couldn't have imagined a better weekend.
Thank you so much to my AMAZING mom for taking on the task for caring for our three very high energy kids! And thank you to Elise and Steven (our wonderful babysitters) who helped out with the kids when my mom had to work. We've been home a few days now and the boys keep asking when Daddy and I are going to take a vacation again. Well, lets see...if we continue at our current rate, we'll be due for another one in about 3 years!
So, here's to my husband...he's patient, honorable, and hard working. He's an amazing man, husband and father. Thank you, Matt, for an incredible 11 years of marriage...can't wait spend another 11 with you (and then some).
