I am not being very consistent with my blogging or journaling. When my kids look back at this summer someday, hopefully, they'll remember that we did do some fun things even though I didn't journal much about it :)
We did just return from our 2nd annual trip to Family Camp. I didn't get many pictures because I forgot my camera and didn't carry my phone much. As usual, we had a great time and made lots of memories!
This kid has little fear for adventure. Now, as far as spiders and bugs go...that's another story!
Fun on the beach.
Nate made this face every day, after he climbed to the top of the zip line tower and just couldn't quite muster up the courage to make the jump. Even though he did it several times last year, he struggled this time.
This is her "4th of July Sammie shirt."
For some reason, my feet were afraid to make an appearance this weekend. They were swapped for bloated and swollen feet and as of today, my regulars haven't returned :)
Matt and Nate went down the zip line many times together.
Adri said, "How did Miracle Camp know that pink was my favorite color?"
Believe it or not, we were enjoying our time together during this picture :)
The kids with their friend, Chloe.
After another dad realized that I wasn't showing Adri the appropriate archery technique, he offered to show her himself. After hitting the target for the first time, she said, "I want him to show me, Mom."
Adri quickly fell asleep on the way home and slept about half of the way. She never let go of her new 'baby,' Donkey Zack.
It's a bit difficult to plan for and retain the energy to keep up with these three and all of the activities and events that are offered while at Miracle Camp. We headed home with absolutely no energy left. This year was a little difficult for me because my body didn't cooperate with all that I wanted to do. I have no idea how Matt made it all the way home without falling asleep. Oh yea, I do...we stopped for ice cream :) Despite the exhaustion, we'd do it all over again...and again and again! I hope we can make it work next year as The Martin Family Six (I think that's the first time I've said that)!
Just some cute photos:
Adri feeds her baby at most meals...she says she's practicing to feed her baby sister!
I've always taunted Matt for having 'his chair.' He can look at the kids if they're sitting in 'his chair' and with no words spoken, they willingly get up. In preparation for this baby and knowing that I'll be spending countless hours every day glued to a seat while nursing her, I suggested to Matt that I want to get 'my chair.' So we shopped for a few months and found a seat that I immediately envisioned sitting in with Baby #4 in my arms and one (or two or three) more kids surrounding me. I'll admit, I enjoy the power...no wonder Matt wasn't willing to give up his recliner! Unfortunately, I don't have the same influence on the kids when I make eye contact with them as they leisure in my seat...in fact, there is no eye contact made at all. I couldn't make them get up, though...they look so cute!
Piper Update:
She is growing like a weed. As of her last vet appointment, she's tripled in size since we got her. Other than the privilege that she thinks she has earned to lounge on the furniture, she's really turning out to be such a good girl. Keely (and Nate) are teaching her well. His 4H competition is next Monday, and I'm excited to see how he does. He's quite proud of what she's learning.
Just as a measure, you can see how much she's grown! She may outgrow her big sis!
And just for fun, I couldn't help but take a pic of Keely hiding from the storm. I think it's so adorable when she hides her head and thinks that no one can see her!
And lastly, this is Gabe riding the tractor with Uncle Rodney. He LOVES tractors and doesn't miss a chance to ride, inspect or just gaze at one while driving down the street. He's waited everyday since school has been out for Rodney to cut the hay so that he could hitch a ride. On the day that he showed up, Gabe said, "Make sure you take my picture, Mom, so I can see how good I look!"
Summer is more than half over (boooo hoooo). But, we still have some adventures to look forward to!
