PLUS ONE!

Jul 15, 2010

At the library this week, one of the special guests was Elise Winn, lifeguard and swim instructor. We have a special connection with Miss Elise because she's our babysitter! The kids learned about swim safety and also about scuba search and rescue from an actual scuba diver!

Nate enjoyed telling me everything he learned on the way home yesterday. He told me that Mr. Sheriff taught him that an inexperienced scuba diver wears his goggles on his head when he's not using them...a professional wears them around his neck. He'll no longer be wearing them on his head on the way to swim practice, so he says!

Thank you to the Harless Family for inviting us to celebrate such a special occasion. Avery celebrated her 1st birthday this weekend at Chuck E. Cheese!

It was a lot harder than I anticipated to get all of the kids looking the same direction!

Adrianna and Avery sharing some bonding time in the Chuck E. Cheese car!

The drawing thing was pretty neat. I'm actually pleased that I got all of the kids to look the same direction for this picture!

Nate really wanted to take a picture with Adrianna and I asked him if he wanted me to find Gabe so that he could be in the picture, too. Nate said, "No, I don't like Gabe."

As usual, my kids have been up to their ornery ways. I enjoyed the opportunity to talk to Nate about our spiritual gifts this week. He asked what mine were and if we could try to figure out what his may be. We decided that because he's such a great big brother and helper, that his spiritual gift is helping. He helps take care of Adrianna and often helps Gabe buckle his seat belt and would help him "tie his shoes if he wore anything but crocks." After a few minutes of thinking, Nate told me what he thought would be the best spiritual gift...burping, hiccuping, and farting...all at the same time! I still don't know if he was trying to be funny or if he actually thought that God would give us that gift!

Gabe has been waking up a lot in the middle of the night. We heard him screaming the other night about 2 a.m. We ran into his room and Matt asked him what was wrong. "I not gonna make it to duh potty!" I thought to myself, "Of course, you're not. You're not even trying!" Matt air lifted him to the potty and without having an accident, he was quickly back in bed and fast asleep. The next morning, I was telling Gabe that it was okay to get up out of bed in the middle of the night and go potty without screaming and waking everyone else up. "Why?" I get dare faster if you carry me!" He such a smart kid!

For those of you who are wondering and keep asking me about the house situation, let me assure you, we're still moving forward, but SLOWLY! We've ran into a few hiccups, but are still headed in the right direction! I'm sure we'll be in our new home...sometime in the next year!

I had to include this video of Adrianna reading her favorite book. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend!
